Hi! Sorry you’re running into this issue. This means the `pip` you’re using is a Python 2 pip. Try using

```bash
pip3 install hail
```

or

```bash
python3 -m pip install hail
```

If you have Python 3 installed, one of those commands should work. If neither of those commands work, you should verify you installed Python 3 correctly. If you are using Anaconda or Miniconda, you might find the [Ananconda getting started page](https://docs.conda.io/projects/conda/en/latest/user-guide/getting-started.html#managing-python) helpful.
